But there can be some other causes which can cause clogged ear and they are ear wax, cold and blocked nose, allergy, water accumulation inside the ear, changes in atmospheric pressure (like traveling in the plane), and Eustachian tube blockages.

If you are thinking, what to do for your clogged ears, then rely on some home remedies to treat your clogged ears which are safe, pocket-friendly, yet effective. But if your ear pain is consistent, then you can take some pain relieving medicine for it.
1. Homemade Nasal Saline Spray for Clogged Ears
Nasal spray works as a mild decongestant, which not just helps to unclog the blocked nose, but also treats clogged ears by providing relief from it.
Take 1 cup of water and pour it in a pan.
To make it sterile, boil this water and then allow it to cool naturally.
Now, take a sterilized bottle (sterilize the bottle by putting it in boiling water) and pour this water into it.
Add ½ tsp each of kosher salt and baking soda to this water (don’t use iodized salt as it can aggravate the allergy).
Mix it well and take this solution in a dropper or bulb syringe.
Shake the solution well before putting it into your nose.
Put 2 drops of this solution in each nostril.
Blow your nose after some time to get rid of decongested nose and ear.
Use this nasal spray up to 3 times for 2 days and it will give you relief from clogged ears.
This nasal solution can be stored for 2 days.
2. Basil Leaves
Basil leaves are antibacterial in nature, which helps in relieving clogged ears that are caused due to a sinus infection. It also alleviates the pain and cold.
Take 5-6 basil leaves and crush those to take the juice out.
Soak a cotton ball in this juice.
Apply it on the ear and around its infected area.
Don’t put this juice into your ear canal.
Use this remedy 2 times a day till you get rid of clogged ears.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar and Rubbing Alcohol
Apple cider vinegar is a well-known remedy for treating sinus infection as this vinegar breaks up the mucus and remove it from your body.
ACV also contains antibacterial property, which helps in curing the other infections that lead to fluid storage and clogged ears. Apple cider vinegar, when mixed with rubbing alcohol, helps in breaking up the wax and drain out the fluid.
Take 2 tbsp each of apple cider vinegar and rubbing alcohol.
If ACV is not there, you can also use plain vinegar.
Mix them well and transfer this solution into a bulb syringe or a dropper.
Now, lie down and pour this solution into your ears.
After pouring, lie down for some time, and put cotton balls in your ears.

4. Tea Tree Oil

Take 1 glass of water.
Boil the water and add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil to the boiling water.
On a table, put this hot water with steam coming out.
Now bend and tilt your ear towards the steam, and allow the hot vapor to go inside your ear.

Process-2: With Olive Oil

5. Wax Softening Solution
Hydrogen peroxide is a very effective remedy for clearing out the ear wax completely and easily. If your ear is clogged due to ear wax, then this remedy is perfect for you.
Process-1: Hydrogen Peroxide Ear Drop for Clogged Ears
Buy diluted hydrogen peroxide (around 3%).
With a dropper pour, 2 drops of hydrogen peroxide in each ear.
Within few minutes, you will hear a fizzing sound.
This sound means that your ear wax is getting dissolved.
Let it settle for 10 minutes.
Once the sound stops completely, tilt your head in the opposite direction to remove the ear wax.
After that with a clean cloth wipe your ear, once the wax has been completely drained out from your ear.
Repeat this process 2-3 times if required to completely remove the ear wax.
This remedy helps in opening the clogged ears that are caused due to ear wax.
Caution: Do not use this remedy otherwise it will damage your ear drums.
Process-2: Homemade Ear Wax Solution
Take ½ cup warm water and add few drops of glycerin or mineral oil to it.
Mix these ingredients well.
Pour this mixture into your ear with a dropper or spoon.
Lie down and pour 2 drops in each ear.
Remain in that position for 10 minutes.
Now, after 10 minutes tilt your head in the opposite direction to remove the solution.
This solution will help to melt the wax and remove it by draining it along with the solution.
If your ear doesn’t open at the first time, then repeat this remedy again. But don’t repeat this remedy after the third time.
Caution: If your ear is clogged due to infection, then don’t use this remedy as it may intensify your problem.
6. Olive or Baby Oil
Sometimes wax that is stored in the ear canal from a long time gets hard, and it becomes difficult to remove with a bud. So, it is better to use olive oil or baby oil to make the hard wax soft, so that it will become easy to remove.
Take some lukewarm olive oil in a dropper.
Or you can also use baby or mineral oil.
During the night, put 2 drops of oil in each ear before going to sleep.
Lie down in such a way that the oil can penetrate deeply into your ear passage.
It will allow the wax to break into small pieces and to come out easily from your ear within few hours.

7. Warm Compress

8. Valsalva Maneuver
Valsalva Maneuver is a process where you try to blow out the air by closing your mouth and exhaling through the nostrils. It helps in increasing the pressure in the chest and middle ear. It also relieves congestion and pain.

Take a deep breath and press your nose to close it partially.
